HIGH/LOW take us behind the scenes of recording 36 tracks in Lockdown, in the making their 4th album CYCLOPS.
Initially planned for release pre-lockdown 2020, the band decided to break the album into chunks and release it across 6 EPs with some additional tracks, each on a Bandcamp Friday throughout 2020.

“Before lockdown, we spent a few weeks in the studio recording drum tracks to the many demos Steve had written, new and old. We knew we were losing our studio to developers, who had bought all the units. So we squeezed in as many sessions as we could.
This left us with LOADS of drum tracks that were ready to go, no studio, and the pending lockdown.
Steve starting moving things around and made his loft into a home studio, so he could work on the tracks we had made a start on.
I decided to dust off my 2008 Mac book pro and see if the old dog could handle some bass fuzz. It didn’t let me down.
This resulting in us putting together an EP in isolation. Sending tracks back and forth for the past few weeks has been fun and very different.
It’s raw and Fuzzy, We hope you dig it.”

While we are working on our next full length album, we took some time out to work on another little project.
The idea started back in November 2012, after we released our 2nd EP ‘RAYGUN’. We wanted to lock ourselves away in a cold studio during the dark winter days and make something warm, fuzzy and lofi. Check out the lofi soundtrack we have recorded for daisy starburst slots game. Recording it in only a couple of sessions, using bare bones recording equipment and experimenting with new sounds.
We just didn’t get around to recording it…until now.
So here it is, the Winter EP – As a thank you for all your support this past year, this EP is Free to download, or pay what you like.

“As Christmas is nearly upon us, mould brings to mind the prospect of a nice bit of Stilton on some crackers, washed down with plenty of Guinness. However we suspect in this case mould refers to Bob Mould – erstwhile frontman of US Alt Rock legends Hüsker Dü & Sugar. It’s no secret that the band are big fans although we can find no further reference in the lyrics. Perhaps the title was a place holder that stuck as the band do a fine job of channeling the spirit of those bands.
The video features the band in the rehearsal studio laying down a demo to 4 track cassette recorder. For the benefit of younger readers this what bands had to use in the olden days before GarageBand.
